DYT-X PM Coupling is a device that makes use of magnetic induction principle to transmit rotating mechanical power. It has two parts, magnet disc and conductor disc. The two discs have no rigid, physical nor mechanical connection but can transmit rotating torque through interaction of the magnetic fields in between. The magnet disc equipped with permanent magnet is connected to load while the conductor disc equipped with copper ring is connected to motor.
In some cases, PM couplings can have a brake wheel, which is installed on the load side.
When the motor starts, the conductor disc reaches the rated speed quickly, while the magnet disc under the magnetic field power increases its rotating speed from zero gradually. At this time emerges eddy current in the conductor disc as well as its induced magnetic field.
The induced magnetic field and the PM’s original magnetic field interact each other that transfers torque through the air gap between the conductor disc and the magnet disc, thus can drive the load to rotate.
When overload or blocking happens, the load-shaft rotating speed drops rapidly or even stops. At this time, the air gap between the conductor disc and the magnet disc will rapidly increase to the state of “Torque Uncoupling” when the motor runs idly without coupling magnet disc to run。This way protects both the motor and load. After overload or the related is removed, PM Coupling can automatically resume to its normal working state.

Please read Installation Manual carefully before installation, and check whether all parts are available;
Make sure the mounting hole of the motor base is waist type before installation;
Please install protective cover before formal operation.
1、 Initial installation
Install the load side hub on gearbox (equipment) shaft. Connect the load side hub to the magnet disc, and install motor side hub on the motor shaft.
Move the motor to the load side to connect the hub to the conductor disc. Remove the set screw between the conductor disc and the magnet disc.
Adjust the set screw on motor base through a wrench. Move forward or backward the motor slightly to adjust the right and left air gaps.
Adjust the angle of the air gaps by increasing or decreasing the base spacers of motor. Check and tighten all fixing bolts to ensure no loosening.
2、 Precise Adjustment of the air gap between magnet disc and conductor disc.
Adjust the right and left air gaps by triangular gauge (wedge gauge).
The deviation should be less than or equal to 0.76mm. If the deviation is more than 0.76mm, loosen the base spacers of the motor and move the motor slightly forward or backward to ensure the air gap around all direction are identical.
Check whether the air gap between the flange and the magnet disc is identical by a steel ruler (ruler). If the deviation is > 0.76mm, adjust the base spacers of the motor to ensure the air gap around all direction are identical.
3、The test run
After the air gaps are qualified, tighten all bolts. Check and make sure there are no unnecessary articles between the conductor disc and the magnet disc. Then start motor without load.
Only when no-load running is qualified can start normal operation with load. If all above processes are good, the installation is completed. You can run the equipment normally with load.
